Inspired by the stars sparkling in the dark sky at night. Starry sky and Moon have always been our key design elements for BEHRENS. From the early stage of the brands develop, we have been using this theme for the design of our watches, from B001 Luna Rock, Moonlight to B013 Astronomer collections, they are all carrying the design elements from this theme.

In 2023, we will be launching an all-new Original series collection, B017 CONSTELLER. A mechanical wristwatch featuring with a new completely new design of time display. The functional displays will be diverted onto 3 sub-dials using the regulator concept, meaning hours and minutes will be displayed on 2 separate sub-dials locating at 7:30 and 4:30 position respectively. Meanwhile, a true moonphase display will be offered for this collection at 12:00 position.

Based on what we have designed and developed in the past, the all-new B017 CONSTELLER collection has been focusing on carrying forward some of our iconic feature design elements to show a continuation of our signatures. By mean of such, to match the design theme, we have adopted a dark theme for this model. From which on the dark blue aventurine dial with stars pattern, we have designed and developed a mechanical module to show the time in hours, minutes, and seconds in regulator format.

The 3 sub-dials are designed to be integrated with the mechanical module system with a raised thickness to add a 3D effect towards the module so that it can be shown with a more layering effect. The hours display by the sub-dial at 7:30 position has 2 individual hands that show the normal time in hours, plus a secondary blue hand to show a 24-hour base day / night indication. The sub-dial on 4:30 position shows the minutes, and in the center, there will be a sweep seconds hand. Also, for 12:00 position, there is a display of the moonphase showing the shape of the moon in accordance with the true moonphase.
Meanwhile, the case is a sized 42mm stainless steel 316L base coated in black which has been one of BEHRENS iconic design. Like all our watches, B017 CONSTELLER has a domed shape anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal.

*** Technical Aspects

The theme design of CONSTELLER is the sky and moon. From which apart from the Moonphase display based on the 12:00 position sub-dial, there are 2 moons on each side of the rotating disc which has been designed base on 59 days per cycle, meaning each moon cycle will be 29.5 days (normal moon cycle is 29.53059 days per cycle). The moon position is set by setting of the time in hours and minutes (sync with time). Meanwhile, the dial which made out of blue aventurine material with constellations made by metal applied indexes turns with a 31 days cycle is adjusted by the date change function via crown. Meaning the whole dial turns by date instantly at midnight. This is a unique feature, thanks to the mechanical module system we have developed.
