Snufkin is independent and comes and goes regardless of others. He can be identified by his green-coloured clothes, top hat, harmonica and pipe. Moomintroll’s best friend spends summers in a tent pitched along the river that flows through Moominvalley. In winter, Snufkin doesn’t hibernate, but goes hiking in the south and always comes back to Moominvalley in the summer.
